Quick White Balance Trick for Sony Cameras

Quick White Balance Trick for Sony Cameras

Found this quick trick a while ago for Sony Cameras and have used it quite a few times myself on my ZV-E10. Definitely helps out when your not sure of your lighting or how to set the white balance so you just leave it on auto.

Setting the White Balance

Normally on my Sony ZV-E10 i will just set the white balance to auto [white priority] which does work if I'm not sure of the lighting sometimes, however i find during video the autoWB can shift back and forth so setting the white balance is better. But what can you do if your not a pro and don't carry around a grey card or usually mess with the white balance setting?

Enter the Sony Camera Cap Trick

Maybe by design Sony lens and body caps are grey so it can be used to set the white balance like shown. This quick camera hack should work with other Sony cameras too not just the one shown. The function menu layout may just be different.

Get Better Results Using Custom White Balance

So now you can use and set a custom white balance, it's a quick and easy trick to help get the best from your footage or pictures. It's not a perfect middle grey but unless your a pro and need it exact i find this works most of the time and gives better results than always leaving it set on auto white balance. Something to try if your trying to get better at photography or video.

Did this work on your camera or do you have another or better trick, always trying to get better and learn more so share your thoughts in the comments.
